Spending two weeks without power thanks to hurricane Wilma, yet still doing plenty of diving has set me back a bit with the stories and underwater photos. A few entries, such as this one about diving at Elbow reef and the City of Washington wreck will slowly trickle in with the tide. Enjoy!

October 22nd, 2005

After surviving hurricane Wilma and the enjoyable [for me] back-to-primitive-life week with no power (Update: Lost it again after a day), I'm happy to say I'm slowly readjusting to modern life. What better way to return than with a prehurricane journal entry with photos! You didn't think a hurricane would keep me away from the ocean... Did you? :)

Baby Trunkfish Underwater Photo

October 15th, 2005

While the visibility in the ocean was at best 10 feet thanks to Florida's Water Management ingenious idea to dump the waters of the Okeechobee Lake into our already hurting oceans, my dive was fruitful none the less. In fact, I even found a couple of rare critters including a juvenile Trunkfish and a Whip Coral Shrimp carrying eggs!

For those of you returning to this site you will notice quite a number of changes. The transformation of TheLivingSea is now complete or should I say, "only just begun." I am excited to bring you not only a new look and format but also the addition of the Explorer's Journal. In here you will find some ramblings about my latest adventures with a gallery of photos from the day.

There is also a new search feature that will allow you to find a specific image. There are a lot of extra photographs aside from the ones featured in our Ocean Galleries so give it a try. Like the ocean, TheLivingSea is constantly evolving so check back often. I hope this web site brings you as much joy and fascination as it brings us in creating it for you. If you've got a moment, please let us know what you think by signing our guestbook or dropping us an email.

UPDATE: In celebration of the completion of the web site I decided to go diving today. Check out the entry in the Explorer's Journal along with today's underwater photos. Read about it here...
