The Atlantic Longarm Octopus (Octopus defilippi) is a close relative of the Indo-Pacific Mimic Octopus. It is believed, based on its behaviors, that it will mimic other creatures in order to avoid predation. Some behaviors include swimming with all its arm stretched back in order to look like a Flounder. Other times it will spread its arms in a manner that makes it appear like a starfish. Another interesting behavior is that Octopus defilippi will carry its eggs under its mantle until they hatch. There is no question the octopus is the smartest of all invertebrates.
